We are an international group of public affairs professionals, economists, lawyers and scientists committed to dialogue and transparency. We seek to participate constructively in EU-law making on tobacco.
The Chairman of the Association is appointed by the CECCM Board on a yearly basis. Amani Kessi is the CECCM Chairman for 2017.
Amani Kessi has held various positions in JTI over the past 20 years. He is currently Vice President, Corporate Affairs & Communications for JTI Western Europe Region.
The Board of Directors is composed of six Directors, representing the three CECCM Full members: (BAT, ITG and JTI). The Board decides on the regulatory objectives of CECCM and agrees on the working program and the activities of the CECCM working groups. The current Board Directors are:
The Executive Committee ensures that the Board decisions are implemented and supervises CECCM activities. The Members of the Executive Committee represent the three CECCM full members. The current members of the Executive Committee are:
Discussions on regulatory issues are held in different working groups, whose members represent the member companies. They are chaired by member companies’ representatives. Some of them are joint “CECCM – ESTA” working groups.
Furthermore CECCM cooperates with Philip Morris International on some selected legislative issues, such as the implementation of Articles 15 and 16 (Tracking and Tracing and Security Features) of the Tobacco Product Directive or the implementation of the packaging and labelling requirements for cigarettes.
The CECCM secretariat is responsible for establishing and maintaining working relations with the EU Institutions. It supports the work of the CECCM working groups, collects and circulates information on regulatory developments relating to cigarettes, ensures that CECCM’s views are presented in the EU circle and interacts with a large number of stakeholders. Antonella Pederiva is Secretary General of CECCM since 2003. She joined CECCM in 1999, as Director for Institutional Affairs, after working in the Brussels offices of the Italian farmer union Coldiretti and the Italian Dairy Industry Association (Assolatte).
She represents CECCM externally, has the general responsibility of the Secretariat and supervises all its activities. She also provides support and strategic advice to the CECCM Board and Executive Committee.
Antonella, an Italian national, enjoys reading, hiking, skiing and travelling.

Mario Müller joined CECCM in 2009, but has worked in Brussels since 1996, first in the European Parliament and then at EuroCommerce.
He is responsible for CECCM engagement (both at technical and political level) and for the coordination of CECCM interest representation activities. He also provides political advice to the CECCM Board and to the different working groups.
Mario is a German national.
